Winnow acquires Lumitics to accelerate Asia-Pacific growth
Circularity Investee Winnow, the global AI-powered food waste measurement company, has acquired Lumitics, one of Asia-Pacific's leading food waste technology providers, in a move that strengthens Winnow's footprint across one of the world's most strategically important growth regions for hospitality.
Founded in Singapore in 2017, Lumitics has built deployments across more than 20 countries in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, working with leading hospitality groups to turn food waste data into action across a wide range of cuisines, kitchen formats and operating environments. The acquisition brings together two of the sector's leading AI food waste platforms, combining Winnow's global technology and international customer base with Lumitics' regional presence, product innovation and hospitality relationships.
For Lumitics' existing customers, the transition brings access to Winnow's VisionAI platform, including its Throw & Go technology, which uses AI to automatically identify and weigh discarded food without any manual scanning or input. Service will continue uninterrupted throughout a phased transition to Winnow's platform and hardware over the coming months, with customers retaining full access to their existing data. The acquisition also expands Winnow's regional support network across Asia-Pacific through larger local teams and deeper on-the-ground expertise.
Marc Zornes, Co-founder and CEO of Winnow, said Asia-Pacific represents one of the most critical frontiers in the fight against food waste, and that Lumitics has built a genuinely strong regional platform through its customer relationships and deployment experience. Of the acquisition, he said: “Together, we’re accelerating our mission to prevent $1 billion in food waste.”
Rayner Loi, Co-founder and CEO of Lumitics, reflected on the company's founding conviction that kitchens could not reduce what they could not see, and pointed to the deep technical and operational insight the team has built over years of deployments across the region's hospitality sector.
The acquisition comes as Winnow continues to scale at pace: the company's technology is now used in more than 3,500 kitchens across nearly 100 countries, with clients including IKEA, Hilton, Accor and Marriott, and collective savings of over $100 million in food costs a year. Asia-Pacific's hospitality sector is projected to be among the fastest-growing globally over the coming decade (source: WTTC), making the region central to Winnow's next phase of expansion.
The acquisition is a consistent with the approach that underpins Circularity's value creation strategy - backing category leaders and helping them scale, both organically and through selective M&A, to accelerate their mission and deepen their competitive position. It also reflects the broader momentum behind food waste measurement as operators face mounting cost and regulatory pressure to act, and sets Winnow up to bring its platform to even more kitchens as it works towards preventing $1 billion in food waste every year.
