REBIKE partners with Decathlon to extend the lifecycle of eBikes

Circularity portfolio company REBIKE, the European leader in eBike rental and remanufacturing, has joined forces with leading sporting goods retailer Decathlon to provide refurbished eBikes to customers via its online store.

REBIKE operates an e-bike refurbishment solution that works hand-in-hand with its pioneering rental and subscription solution. Delivered through its in-house facilities, REBIKE enables customers to purchase previously rented eBikes in ‘as new’ condition.

The circular economy model enables the use of eBikes across multiple lifecycles, from rental through refurbishment and re-use and, as a result, the average lifetime of each eBike is greatly prolonged. This model keeps products in the value chain for longer (and out of landfill), while also displacing the need for virgin materials and manufacturing processes required to build new eBikes.

As part of the new agreement, REBIKE will supply around 1,000 high-quality, affordable, and sustainable refurbished eBikes to Decathlon’s customers via its digital marketplace, at a price up to 40% lower than that of a new model. Emphasising safety and transparency for all its customers, REBIKE offers warranty, aftercare and professional advice on all refurbished products.

The move comes as part of Decathlon’s wider corporate strategy to scale up its commitment to circularity through a focus on second life products, rentals and repairs. This contributes to a wider goal of reaching carbon neutrality by 2050.
