Grover announces brand partnership with Samsung Electronics GmbH
Circularity Capital-backed flexible subscription business Grover, the ‘Netflix for technology’, has announced a major new brand partnership with Samsung Electronics GmbH, which will see select smartphones from the Galaxy S20 range rented with Grover through Samsung Germany’s online shop.
The new service is an alternative to the outright purchase and financing options currently available from Samsung, instead harnessing the Product-as-a-Service concept to offer usage-based access to the latest range. This allows customers to get their hands on the latest tech for an affordable monthly fee, with possible rental periods of between four weeks and 12 months.
Grover has proven itself a successful rental subscription partner to some of Europe’s leading electronics retailers, including MediaMarkt and Saturn. As more manufacturers embrace the rental model, Grover is perfectly placed to further expand its growing partner network.
Michael Cassau, founder and chief executive of Grover, commented: “I’m delighted to welcome Samsung Germany as the first brand manufacturer to partner with Grover. It’s great to see Samsung take this step toward offering its customers flexible access options that can be tailored to suit individual requirements, and to be pioneering this space together.”
Founded in 2015, Grover already offers customers across Germany, Austria and the Netherlands a variety of Samsung, Apple and other phones, alongside a range of more than 2,000 other electronic items from 90 different manufacturers.
Ian Nolan, partner at Circularity Capital, added: “Agreeing such an influential partnership is positive news indeed – we’re delighted for Michael and the Grover team. A Circularity Capital investee company, the flexible subscription business fits perfectly into our portfolio of high-growth innovative businesses enabling a more circular economy.”
