Shark Solutions named one of Bloomberg’s 50 Global Leaders

Circularity Capital portfolio company Shark Solutions, a global leader in advanced recycled PVB products, has been named as one of Bloomberg’s 50 Global Leaders. A project exploring how innovative thinking is shaping the world of tomorrow, the programme aims to inform the future of business and support the direction of international trade.

Each leader has been chosen for their pioneering approach to breaking barriers and driving the future. Shark Solutions’ revolutionary process, which separates the polymer interlayer (PVB) from end-of-life laminated glass and transforms it into highly valuable, non-toxic, price-competitive materials for use in numerous end markets, demonstrated a ground-breaking business enabling the circular economy.

The Denmark-headquartered company manufactures tens of thousands of tonnes of material per year for use in paints, coatings, adhesives and flooring products. This includes the use of Shark’s recycled, non-toxic materials in a number of Cradle-to-Cradle certified products

Jens Holmegaard, founder of Shark Solutions, commented: “Being recognised in Bloomberg’s 50 Global Leaders initiative is testament to our unique process, pioneering thinking and commitment to driving value for our customers through a business model harnessing the circular economy. We’re honoured to have made the list for 2021 and look forward to seeing the campaign continue to build global momentum.

Jamie Butterworth, partner at Circularity Capital, added: “We’re delighted to see Jens and the Shark Solutions team profiled as global pioneers. The company is an excellent example of creating high-margin, differentiated products from what most see as an unwanted waste stream – in essence, placing the circular economy as a central point of business operations, while also driving a profound environmental and societal impact.”
