Winnow announced as winner of The Circulars Tech Disruptor award
Davos, 21st January 2019: Winnow has been awarded The Circulars “Ecolab Award for Circular Economy Tech Disruptor” and the overall “Winner of Winners Award” at the World Economy Forum in Davos.
The Circulars is an initiative of the World Economic Forum and the Forum of Young Global Leaders. It is widely regarded as the world’s premier circular economy award program. The award offers recognition to individuals and organisations across the globe that are making notable contributions to the circular economy in the private sector, public sector and society.
Winnow has been recognised for its global impact on food waste reduction in large scale kitchens. Their technology provides chefs with the digital tools needed to quickly and easily measure waste and the analytics to pinpoint waste reduction opportunities. Today Winnow is operating in almost 30 countries and trusted by brands like Compass Group, Accor Hotels and IKEA. Early adopters are already reaping the benefits of using the new technology by cutting food waste in half within 12 months.
Previous winners of the Tech Disruptor award include AmpRobotics, using artificial intelligence and robotics to improve recycling, and Rubicon, a big data platform providing affordable waste and recycling solutions to businesses.
Marc Zornes, Winnow co-founder and CEO, accepted the award at a ceremony hosted at the World Food Programme tent on 21st January. He said, “My team and I would like to salute the thousands of chefs around the world using Winnow to fight food waste. This award is recognition of their collective achievement, and we are proud that together we are saving over 23m meals a year from the bin.”
He added, ”We believe that adoption of digital tools like Winnow will fast become the norm across the hospitality sector as the industry wakes up to the significant commercial and environmental benefits.”
