Jamie Butterworth is a founding partner at Circularity Capital, where he leads investor relations, and the firm’s value creation function. With over 15 years of experience in circular economy innovation and investment, Jamie brings a unique blend of strategic vision, industry expertise, and global network connectivity. He is a member of Circularity Capital’s Investment Committee.
Prior to co-founding Circularity Capital, Jamie was the founding CEO of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, the globally leading organisation focused on advancing the circular economy for corporate businesses. Under his leadership, EMF became a central force in shaping circular economy thinking and practice across industries. Jamie has played a pioneering role in thought leadership in the circular economy and was instrumental in a partnership between EMF and McKinsey & Co. to identify and unlock the commercial opportunities posed by the circular economy.
As the firm’s IR lead, Jamie is responsible for managing relationships with institutional LPs and family offices, ensuring alignment between investor expectations and portfolio delivery. He also heads Circularity’s value creation team, working closely with Circularity’s Operating Principals and broader network to support investee companies accelerate commercial performance and impact. This dual role reflects his deeply held belief that specialist investors with deep sector knowledge are uniquely positioned to unlock the full potential of circular business models.
